Pasquale's Story

Age 19 · Louisville, Kentucky

"We spent the first year grieving a life we thought he'd have. By year three, we realized the life he actually had was richer than anything we'd imagined."

When Pasquale was born, his doctors gave his parents a checklist of things he'd never do. Today, at 19, he swims competitively, holds a part-time job at a local grocery store, and is beloved by everyone who meets him. His mother Teresa has spent the past decade advocating for inclusive education in their district — and winning.

"The 5p- Society connected us to families who were five years ahead of us on this road. That changed everything. You can't overstate the value of knowing someone has already walked where you're about to go."
